Enjoy a night of fun personalizing your candle, choosing your scents and crafting a unique bouquet no one will believe was crafted by YOU! Artificial flowers are handmade using acrylic beads and metal wire. They are perfect for daily use and can be placed indoors and outdoors as a stunning eye-catching centerpiece decoration! Supplies fee: $25 to be paid directly to instructor at start of class.

Introduction to Paper Quilling

Students will join Kim on a learning adventure in the art of quilling paper - rolling, shaping and glueing strips of paper to make art forms. Basic techniques will be covered, and students may create various items including cards and ornaments. Come with an open mind and a clothing top that you do not mind getting glue on! Supplies fee: $15 to be paid directly to the instructor on the first day of class.

Restorative Yoga

We will begin with some stretches and gentle movements to prepare, then we will do some reclined or seated poses. Using props like bolsters, blocks and blankets to support us, we will relax into each pose for 3-5 minutes where we will find a wonderful stillness in the body and mind. This activates the relaxation response in the nervous system. It restores the body’s immune system and has many other benefits. Please bring a yoga mat and any props you might have such as blocks, bolsters, blankets or towels.

Maine Driving Dynamics (MDD)

This is a two-session class, you must be present at both sessions in order to earn the credit. The Maine Driving Dynamics course is a driver improvement course that is aimed to improve a student’s defensive driving awareness and abilities. This five-hour course runs over two evenings and includes discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine’s highways. Our goal is to save lives, prevent injuries, and reduce vehicle-related crashes. The course may be taken for point reduction only once every 365 days. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record.

Drawing for Beginners

It's never too late to learn! No experience is necessary or expected. A class that introduces the nuts-and-bolts approach to a structured drawing process. A variety of mediums will be used - graphite in different forms and charcoal in block, powder and vine. Materials provided for in-class use.

National Service Through AmeriCorps: Informational Session

This informative workshop will provide attendees with all the information they need to enter National Service through the AmeriCorps program. AmeriCorps is the program whereby citizens can Make a Difference in their community by enrolling to lend their energy and ability to advance a well thought out project and program. AmeriCorps members receive a stipend, fully paid health benefit (full time) and an education award that can be applied to any post-secondary school tuition/fees. Member terms are full or part time and there are many opportunities available, including the Augusta area. Hear more about how you can enlist to provide National Service through AmeriCorps in your own community by attending this lively in-person seminar. There is no charge to attend a workshop and participants are under no obligation to join.

Hatha Yoga

Everyone can do some yoga, and, with very little instruction, you can begin to practice your focus on breath and holding postures. Yoga can be helpful with managing pain, improves your posture, tightens and tones your body, increases circulation, strengthens the back muscles, and helps with anxiety. Students should bring a yoga mat and a towel or light blanket. Wear loose clothing suitable for exercise. This class is for the beginner to experienced yoga student.
