If you're looking to launch a career or upgrade your skills in the healthcare field, then phlebotomy could be a good training option for you. The phlebotomist is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team who obtains patient blood specimens by venipuncture and micro-collection for testing purposes. Phlebotomists are employed across the healthcare system.

We welcome you to this information session where we will review the classroom components at Lake Region and Fryeburg Area Adult Education and the clinical experience at Bridgton Hospital, payment plans and resources for financial assistance, and complete the registration paperwork. 

Phlebotomy class eligibility includes being age 18+, holding a high school diploma, and a 239 CASAS score. Those with a Bachelor's degree do not need to take the CASAS.

MSAD 61 Substitute Teacher Training

In this one-hour training, MSAD 61 staff will review the requirements for becoming a substitute teacher in MSAD 61 and how to get on the substitute list; professional expectations and best practices for substitute teachers; what to expect at the various schools in the district; and some district policy and legal information. Participants who complete this training are eligible to receive an additional $10 per day in substitute pay, and this includes current substitutes!

Free. Pre-registration required. You can attend training at any school regardless of where you want to substitute.

The phlebotomist is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team who obtains patient blood specimens by venipuncture and micro collection for testing purposes. Phlebotomists are employed across the health care system. Classroom and clinical experience include medical terminology, blood collection, procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Class includes the National Healthcareer Association’s Certified Phlebotomist Technician (CPT) exam. Clinical experience for this class is held at Bridgton Hospital in Bridgton, Maine. Learners are required to pre-register through attendance at an in-person information session. Learners provide documentation of a recent medical physical examination conducted and signed by a physician, and the following vaccinations: COVID 19, Seasonal Flu, Hepatitis B, MMR, Tetanus, Varicella, and TB, before starting clinicals. Class size is limited.
