AKC Star Puppy Class

Calendar Apr 24, 2018 at 6 pm, runs for 5 weeks

The AKC Star Puppy Class is for puppies 10 weeks to 11 months of age. In this class you will be able to get all your puppy training questions answered along with learning basic training skills such as walking nicely on leash, sit, down, and come when called. After attending all 6 classes the Star puppy test will be administered and upon passing your puppy will receive a new title and certificate. All puppies are welcome including mixed breeds. Students must have: Copy of vaccinations, 4-6 ft thin leash and soft treats.

*$120 lab fee paid directly to instructor at start of class

Canine Good Citizen

This class is for dogs who already possess basic obedience skills. Your dog will learn to have good manners at home and in the community! On the 6th week of class your dog will be given a 10-step test, and those who pass will receive a certificate from the AKC.

Chinese Through Stories

Learn Chinese language and culture through stories. You will explore the meaning behind some of China’s well-known Chengyu (sayings). Discover the values of Chinese people through the legends and folk tales they tell. Hear various perspectives on real life encounters between Chinese and Americans. There is no expectation of previous experience with Mandarin or Chinese culture.

Computers for Beginners

If you’ve never used computers or have had very little experience with them, this class is for you! You will be introduced to a mouse, keyboard, touch screen, monitor and common terminology so you can “talk the talk.” Then you will be shown how to take care of your computer and avoid things that could harm your computer or invade your privacy. You’ll learn to use your computer for such things as making folders, writing letters, browsing the web and using email and Facebook.

Conversational Spanish

Learn the basic structure of the Spanish language, including simple grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation—the building blocks of conversation. Classes will be interactive and taught in English and Spanish. Along the way you’ll learn about the culture, music, food, and whatever else interests you about Latin American countries or Spain! Specific content will be tailored to your Spanish language needs (e.g., for travel, work, new friends/family, school, or a fun new challenge). Students should bring notebooks, pens and laptop/tablet(optional)

Cooking Matters for Families

Cooking Matters for Families is a class where school-age children and their families come together in the kitchen to learn about healthy eating. This program will help participants gain knowledge and skills to eat healthier foods, as well as learning how to engage in more physical activities as a family. A few specific objectives for participants include learning how to: Include more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in family meals. Read food labels. Plan family meals and save time preparing meals at home. Identify physical activities that can be done as a family.
