A very simple linear scheme with an amazing surprise twist transforms quickly into a more complex arrangement of blocks and a new contemporary design. Come learn some of my basic quilting tips and techniques that will help keep your blocks, borders and finishing accurately square, aligned and ultimately flat in this fast and fun table runner. Looks great with either newer bright bold fabrics, seasonal novelties or just plain scrappy to the core. Students will need to bring: Sewing Machine - in good working order – don’t forget the power cord(s). ¼” Edge sewing foot or Walking foot installed on machine Stitch ‘N Ditch sewing foot (if you have one) OR Free Motion quilting foot (whichever you prefer) A new Microtex Sharp Needle installed in the machine prior to class (size 60 or 70 recommended) Thread – neutral color with matching bobbin filled prior to class. (I’ll be showing you why I like Superior Bottom Line Thread and will have some available to purchase in class.) Basic sewing supplies (pins, scissors, seam ripper, tape measure, etc.) Rotary cutter (45mm) with new blade, cutting mat and ruler (18” or larger) Large square ruler (14” or larger is desirable, if you have one) Assorted fabrics (6-10 total) in a range of light, medium and darks (Minimum scrap size 1.5”x15”). The greater the contrast and variety in pattern size, the better the results. Fat quarters work well. One FQ coordinating solid, high contrasting inner border fabric One ½ yard Focus fabric for outside border. will be needed as well. (Seasonal or theme fabrics, if desired, are also encouraged.) ½ yard of Backing fabric (can be muslin) ¼ yard of Binding fabric (can be pieced from the assorted fabrics above, a different fabric altogether or same as focus fabric above) Cotton Batting (such as Warm & Natural) – piece should be larger than 49X17
